About the artist
Megan Lemcke hails from rural Pennsylvania (mostly), though she now calls southern New Mexico home. The daughter of an Abstract painter, she internalized her father's aesthetic while very young, following in his footsteps to get her BFA from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. Her work is varied, ranging from classical still life (primarily in the 'vanitas' vein) to fractured abstractions of the desert. The natural beauty of the Southwest also manifests itself in the skies that emerge in many of her paintings, as well as the intensity of light and color that suffuses much of her work.
She lists Richard Diebenkorn, Nancy Spero, and René Magritte among her influences.
She continues to work from Blueshift Studio in Deming, New Mexico, where she can see Chihuahua, MX on a clear day.
